Empty Victory – PTSD

“Often it isn’t the initiating trauma that creates seemingly insurmountable pain, but the lack of support after.”
S. Kelley Harrell, Gift of the Dreamtime – Reader’s Companion

Bend beneath and swerve around
All my troubles utter one great sound
Pulling the tapestry of life apart
Never in silence until I depart
Standing firm under a heavy break
Looking over the edge, a fall to take
Final swings in battles won
Left to victories empty sun
Laying all down in a sleepless bed
Battle scars never leave my head

Guile’s Subtle Creature – Pain and Fear are my defenders

“Full of wiles, full of guile
at all times, in all ways,
Are the children of Men”
Aristophanes

Free me from guile’s subtle creature of passions hateful exile

The allies to my rescue will come quick as the dawn and just as sure

Wrest me from the chained facade of my minds deceitful succubus

Burdened with feigned troubles provoked like mist from the crashing waves

What guards me from the charms of a women not so innocent

Fear and Pain lead me away from this captor with the demise of dreams

Teach me my dear brothers with your wisdom gleaned from eagles sight

Deliver me from the lies and deceit that hate has born on its wings

Just A Stone – Ordinary can be special, provided you take the cuts

“A diamond with a flaw is worth more than a pebble without imperfections.”
Chinese Proverb
“Consider a stone, lying on the ground,
in plain sight, so many around.
Some have kicked, and others thrown.
But not a soul wants to own.
A cutter came with his skill,
and gathered it from the hill.
Sharp blows came swift, followed by hard thought
Chipping at the skin, all the stone was wrought.
At last being done, held for all to see
a brilliant diamond, from the likes of me…” – DMW

Hitchhiker

“Yes: I am a dreamer. For a dreamer is one who can only find his way by moonlight, and his punishment is that he sees the dawn before the rest of the world.”
Oscar Wilde, The Critic as Artist

Pain demands my nurture forcing my mind to comprehend,
worry and pain will come, as hitchhikers on my journey.
Do I choose to accept these passengers
harbingers of future discomfort and agony
or shut the door and speed past the beckoning stare.
Find your joy in the speed of passing
not in the bend of examinations after the fact.
My head turns upwards, back towards the road
finding my dreams beyond torturous riders.

Bar Time – The way it is

“When I go to a bar, I don’t go looking for a girl who knows the capital of Maine.”
David Brenner
olavstubberud

11 pm – And the pressure is on

Feeling no pain, inhibition gone

12 am – The game is in full swing

All the preparation for this thing

1 am – Soon the last call is made

This spot beside me is up for trade

2 am – A challenge there she stands

One more drink in her hands

3 am – We share the passion bed

Our love we switch for pain instead

4 am – I lay awake with open eyes

Without the high theres no disguise

5 am – I’m stirring and flipping still

She awakes and tries to feel

6 am – I’m the victim of my crime

Following hard in bar time

Mr P – Pain my companion

“Pain insists upon being attended to. God whispers to us in our pleasures, speaks in our consciences, but shouts in our pains. It is his megaphone to rouse a deaf world.”

Hey Mr P!
I’m so glad to have your acquaintance.
You’ve been by my side through good and bad.
You made sure I always was aware of you following behind me
I’m glad your here, without you, where would I be?
Because of you I’m sharp, on my toes and on guard
Otherwise I would be apathetic, dull, and
lulled to sleep by pleasure
I’m glad your here.
You remind me life is short and
to make sure I enjoy the little things.
You tell me to say I love you
to those close to me.
You make me aware that I need
something greater than myself.
By that, you have led me to spiritual pursuits
which have brought me great peace
in my afflictions.
I don’t wish you to leave,
I’m used to you and I realize
I cant truly love or live without you here.
Mr. Pain, thank you.
