Triage

In Love’s service, only wounded soldiers can serve.” – Brennan Manning, Abba’s Child

He jests at scars that never felt a wound.” William Shakespeare, Romeo and Juliet
I gather the wounded, from near and far
Giving my gift, no matter who you are
There are those who hurt, rip, break and maim
Even when slashed deep, I’m still the same
Reaching out in the raging battles night
With calm words healing, bringing compassions light
Warriors hardened with ease they kill
My talents bind the bloody that is my skill
So go with your swords, by them you’ll die
I come with second life, breaths from on high
I’ll relax on that day, with friends all around
People I never knew, in the field I found
They made it through with unsightly stitches
My helping hand, pulled them from the ditches
Triage is my name, and I wear it with pride
The next skin I save, may be your ugly hide

An Ideal Death

“It’s so strange how life works: You want something and you wait and wait and feel like it’s taking forever to come. Then it happens and it’s over and all you want to do is curl back up in that moment before things changed.” ― Lauren Oliver, Delirium

“She didn’t say it, I only thought she said it. So really it was my thought, my words, and not hers. How could I confuse “I love you” with “May I take your order?”

Pulled deeper, though I had no choice, yet the illusion is that I do. With the edge drawing near, I push against the rough limits of my captivity. Faced with a destiny of falling, in your eyes I see the trap. Both feet planted, earth piling up against my struggle for life, I take a deep and final breath, then jump off with no resistance as I thrust into you. My life has ended, with glee your eyes show your victory. I gave myself to you in the act of love, now my gift has become your weapon. Only one thing can control me, my soul. Using me against me, such a marvelous concept. You have perfected this betrayal of my soul against my mind in an exquisite manner. Whatever, its’ to late now, I fall without redemption, knowing I did this for you, but really for me. That’s what makes all of this so crazy, how easily I committed an emotional suicide. The lure of love, the utopia of ideals and concepts of how life should be, these are the real villains in this crime of passion. I sold my soul long ago to these fantasies, you only came to cash in on the deal.

My Thorns, My Gift

 thirteenbrains

I watch with envy
the flowers around me
they sway so freely
they seem so happy
so full of life
colorful and bright
but no not me
I have the devils horns on me
these thorns restrict me
no one picks me
no one seems to want me
they leave me out
saying I’m different
saying I seem so uptight
my mother tells me
I’m just not right
she told me to see my thorns
in a different light
how lucky
she says
you are
to have thorns
while all the flowers
seem so free
they are in major
danger
they seem happy
but it’s a lie
they are colorful and bright
but they have nothing inside
you have it all
for you have the ultimate gift
you have your thorns
which protect you
through the darkness of night
and the evilness in life
they will help you win
every fight
and you will get through
everything you face
just do what’s right
and hold onto your thorns
tight
and you will soon see
the light

11 Things I Wish My Son To Know – Wisdom for my son

1)     Your mind is brilliant with ideas and thoughts, use these to create and bring life or they will destroy you.

2)     Women come and go. You’ll carry them with you after you’re apart. Be wary then of whom you attach yourself to

3)     Don’t concern yourself with other people’s drama or let your life be entangled by their problems.

4)     Some women will flirt with you while they are in a relationship. Don’t be alone with her or return the flirt, it’s a dangerous situation so gaurd yourself.

 5)     Save money. If you don’t you’ll always be at someone’s mercy. Whatever you got to do, hold some back.

6)     Don’t burn bridges with friends, family, or employers. You may have to travel on that road again, keep it clean.

7)     Never let your anger determine your destiny. Some fights aren’t meant to be fought. Rage can be used against you. When faced with rage, take a moment to separate yourself and think about what your doing.

8)     You must have enemies. If you’re living in such a way as to NEVER offend anyone, you’re compromising yourself.

9)     Follow spirituality to the fullest. Find your god and spend time to develop your spirit. Herein lies the greatest strength, the greatest peace, and the most enduring love. Strength to overcome any obstacle, peace to pass through any circumstance, and love when no one stands with you

10)     Enjoy solitude. Don’t spend all your time enjoying an entourage. Learn about yourself in the solitude. Great character is forged there. Great wisdom is found there.

11)     Surround yourself with positive people, positive things, in positive places. Your soul will feel it when you don’t, so run from the negative things that pull you down.

– With much love,
